25th anniversary of the Albanian Constitution, principles discussed as the

The 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution finds Albanian politics as polarized as in 1998, when it was drafted. The activity organized within the framework of this anniversary failed to bring together politics, which the opposition boycotted, just like the referendum of 25 years ago.

The Democrats announced their refusal to participate as spectators, demanding that they have the right to speak about the Constitution.

The activity took place in the Assembly hall, where after a month it was possible to speak in its pulpit without smoke and barricade of chairs. Lindita Nikolla, who opened the ceremony, seems to have not yet gotten over the opposition's behavior in the parliament hall.

"No one should allow, and will not allow the elected to impose their will on the will of the people and the elected. Today, there is no doubt that the myth of the untouchables is being broken," said Nikolla.

President Begaj sent a message to the pulitka class for respecting the constitutional norms, as well as a criticism for both camps, in respecting the principle of separation and balancing of powers.

"We all have the responsibility and duty to be guarantors of the Constitution and the basic norms that it reflects. Respecting it helps directly, both in increasing legislative quality and constitutional control", said Begaj.

The agenda had foreseen that Prime Minister Edi Rama would also be in the hall, but like many parliamentary matters, he delegated this too. Ulsi Manja spoke on behalf of the government. The Minister of Justice drew a parallel of the current situation with 1998, stating that the opposition is doing the same blocking behavior as 25 years ago.

"And ironically, today in the Parliament, we have a situation that resembles that of the already distant year 1998 at the time of the constitutional debate", said Manja.

The guardians of the implementation of the fundamental law are the Constitutional judges. President Holta Zaçaj said that politics is putting pressure on them with public accusations.

"Criticisms against the Court and its judges are an indicator of freedom of expression, for which we have all fought, but to the extent that they do not turn into an attack or a means of pressure on them. Let's not forget, the judicial power can play its constitutional role only if it is independent", said Holta Zaçaj.

But from 1998 until today, the Constitution has undergone a series of changes, where for the president of the Supreme Court, those of 2008 after the Berisha-Rama agreement shook the foundations for their political interests.

"The constitution was not fully functional to guarantee the independence and impartiality of the justice system, nor was it stable enough to survive the political super majorities, which especially, in the spring of 2008, driven by the political interests of the moment, "They shook the foundations, violating the harmony of all the constitutional provisions", said Sadushi.

All the deputies of the Assembly of Albania were invited to this activity, but in the hall they were counted with the fingers of the hand, even among the ranks of the majority. The November holidays seem to have taken priority. (A2 Televizion)
