Prime Minister Edi Rama thanked the President of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed, for the support he has given to Albania in the trilateral agreement with Abu Dhabi and Italy for the construction of an underwater energy connection through the Adriatic, writes A2 CNN.

According to Rama, this agreement is in the continuation of the transformation of the energy sector in Albania. "The production of electricity in Albania is 100% from renewable sources. The percentage of renewable energy in Albania's final energy demand is 44%. This places Albania in the top countries on the list for the percentage of renewable energy", said the prime minister in his speech at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Global Summit.

"This will be a very, very important tool not only for the transmission of renewable energy from Albania to Italy, but also to increase Albania's capacity as a key player in the region. This very important step for the region and for Europe would also not have been possible without the significant cooperation with the United Arab Emirates and without the special attention of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. I would like to emphasize that Albania's partnership with the United Arab Emirates in the energy sector is very important for a region where many wars, conflicts and bloodshed have shaped our past and the common desire to be part of the European family must be supported with concrete initiatives and concrete steps to overcome the past. In this regard, the cooperation that has begun this cooperation aims to develop up to 3 GW of renewable energy production, to have an organized network in the European market. This is an important contribution not only to energy, but also to peace in the region", Rama added. (A2 Televizion)
