Prime Minister Edi Rama has received congratulations for the Socialist Party's victory in the May 11 elections from French President Emmanuel Macron. In a post on X, the head of the Elysee considers him a dear friend and expresses France's support on the path to the EU, while reminding him that he will be in Tirana at the EU leaders' summit taking place on Friday.
"Congratulations Edi Rama, dear friend, on your victory in the parliamentary elections. France will always be by Albania's side on its path towards the European Union. We will meet on Friday at the Summit of the European Political Community and for a visit that should allow us to further strengthen our partnership!", he writes.
The French president's congratulations come a day after those of other European leaders such as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. (A2 Televizion)
