Tirana hosted the South East European Cooperation Process Summit, known by its acronym SEECP, which also marked the end of the Albanian presidency. Tirana brought together all the foreign ministers of the countries of Southeast Europe, in an event that marked the conclusion of the Albanian presidency of the SEECP. The opening speech of the summit of the Southeast European Cooperation Process was delivered by Minister Ilgi Hasani, who focused on the regional cooperation achieved so far, while reiterating Albania's ambition to integrate into the EU within this decade.
Sinkron: “Our goal is ambitious, but also achievable: to open the chapters by the end of this year and to conclude the negotiations by 2027. We are working with determination to make Albania ready for full EU membership before the end of this decade. This is a regional objective. The success of our neighbors is our success.”
The military clash in the Middle East was also part of his focus, as the Albanian foreign minister made it clear that official Tirana supports Israel's right to defend itself, while calling on Iran to stop its nuclear activities.
Sinkron: “Albania reaffirms Israel’s right to maintain its security and protect its citizens from threats. At the same time, we call on Iran to cease its nuclear and ballistic missile activities and to act in accordance with its obligations under international law, including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.”
As a platform initiated by the countries of the region themselves, the SEECP remains an important mechanism for strengthening cooperation, resolving common challenges, and preparing for full integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures. (A2 Televizion)
