"Significant lack of meritocracy", Faik Basha leaves the Freedom Party

Faik Basha has resigned from every position he held at the Freedom Party.

According to him, this decision comes after "a long period of reflection and analysis of the current situation in the Freedom Party."

"My decision to resign from the Freedom Party is necessary to preserve my principles and commitment to the public interest. During the period that I have been part of this party, I have noticed a marked lack of meritocracy. It is clear that many places and positions have been filled through favoritism and personal relationships, bypassing the most capable and dedicated individuals in public causes. I have noticed that the advancement of capable and dedicated individuals is often replaced by servile practices and unreasonable privileges. This has brought about an environment where individual merit and commitment to high ideals are overshadowed by personal interests and clan politics," writes Faik Basha.

Faik Basha's full post:

Dear friends, heroic supporters and sympathizers who have supported me unconditionally.
After a long period of reflection and analysis of the current situation in the Freedom Party (PL), after meeting one by one with all my friends and supporters, I have decided to resign from all positions and duties that I have held in this party. This decision has come after a great and continuous contribution in the service of the public interest, which has not received the deserved appreciation.
This decision did not come easily, but is the result of a deep reflection on the values and practices that surround me and all my supporters.
My decision to resign from the Freedom Party is necessary to preserve my principles and commitment to the public interest. In the future, I will continue to engage in the causes that I believe in, and I hope to see a sustainable development in Albanian politics.
The fundamental principles of a courageous and progressive party are merit and commitment to the principles of equality and justice. However, during the period that I have been part of this party, I have noticed a marked lack of meritocracy. It is clear that many places and positions have been filled through favoritism and personal relationships, bypassing the most capable and dedicated individuals in public causes.
During these years, I have been dedicated to protecting the interests of the uniformed forces, public safety and the economic development of our country. I have believed in the need for a safer Albania. I have worked passionately to promote policies that support law enforcement and security forces, as well as to ensure that their rights are respected and protected.
I have also demonstrated effort and dedication to contribute to the development and progress of the party. However, I have noticed that the advancement of capable and dedicated individuals is often replaced by servile practices and unreasonable privileges. This has led to an environment where individual merit and dedication to high ideals are overshadowed by personal interests and clan politics.
I resign from every position I have held to date:
- Member of the Presidency of the Freedom Party
- Secretary for Public Safety in the Freedom Party
- Chairman of the PL Group of Advisors in the Municipality of Kamza
- Chairman of the Freedom Party Kamza
This decision is not at all a reflection of a loss of faith in the principles that I hold dear, but is a step that I believe is necessary to preserve my personal integrity and my profession.
My departure from the Freedom Party is not the end of my efforts for the causes I have defended, but the beginning of a new and more successful battle.
My departure is a bold step towards re-evaluating our commitments and paving a new path for the future of Albania. This is the beginning of a battle, where I will continue to fight for every uniform, for every family, for every Albanian, and for every community that feels their voice has been ignored.
I believe that the future of Albania is in the hands of its citizens. Every new effort, every small step forward, is a step towards a brighter future.
Let us begin this battle together for a European Albania, to build an Albania that makes us all proud.
The interests of a European Albania are the patriotic duty of every Albanian.

With respect,
Faik Basha (A2 Televizion)
