With this post made on May 4 on his social network Facebook, Gjin Gjoni, candidate for deputy of the Democratic Party, accused 5 socialist officials of being implicated in vote buying and called on the judiciary to act.

Lezha police initially launched an investigation mainly regarding the public statement, but then 5 Socialist Party officials Denis Pervathi, Eraldo Smaçi, Paulin Gjergji, Emirjan Lazri, and Rigels Nicaj, reported Gjon for defamation, writes A2.

Now, the former judge who is seeking a seat in the Assembly will be investigated for defamation while at large. Officially, the Lezha Police stated that the materials for Gjin Gjon have been referred to the prosecutor's office, as his accusations on the social network Facebook that 5 representatives and sympathizers of the Socialist Party are implicated in vote buying and voter intimidation are considered defamatory.

But it doesn't end there. It seems that this election campaign is very tense in the Lezha Region, which has as its political leader from the Socialist Party the deputy and Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, and on the other side the deputy and Democratic Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Agron Gjekmarkaj.

On Monday evening, an electoral incident was registered between the Socialists and Democrats and the Euro-Atlantic coalition. The incident involved the deputy mayor of Lezha, Fatjon Zefi, the director of OSHEE in Lezha, Andi Marku, both from the SP, Gjin Gjoni from the DP and Eduart Ndocaj from Lulzim Basha's party. Zefi reported to the police that for reasons related to the electoral campaign, he was prevented from moving in his vehicle in the village of Kolsh. The opposition accused the people in power of wanting to buy votes and that there were electoral materials in their car.

Lezha Mayor Pjerin Ndreu said that the opposition is making deliberate provocations. In another case, the police proceeded at large against a 38-year-old DP supporter for the criminal offenses of “Disturbing public peace”, “Obstructing the movement of means of transport” and “Threat or violence against election participants”.

A 24-year-old man who published a photo of a completed ballot on TikTok, which he obtained through the postal service, has also been processed by the Lezha Police, as he is an immigrant in Germany and a voter in this district. (A2 Televizion)
