Palestinians in Albania? Rama from the Munich conference: As long as I am prime

Prime Minister Edi Rama has denied reports that the US government is planning to send refugees from Palestine to Albania. During the Munich Security Conference, Rama stressed that as long as he is at the head of the Albanian government, this will not happen.

"I have not been contacted by the American government. But as long as I am at the head of the government, we will not accept Palestinians,"  Rama declared.

Rama's stance comes at a time when migration and refugee issues are being widely discussed in the international arena.

US President Donald Trump said a few days ago during a press conference that Albania is on the list of countries he is considering sending Palestinian refugees. In response, Rama said: "No one has asked us from the Trump administration, but even if they do ask us, which is not logical, because we are in the middle of Europe and how can hundreds of thousands of people come to us... Anyway, this is a logistical part and we are a small country. But this is not going to happen, at least not during my government."

The war in Gaza and the Israel-Palestine conflict were the topics of the meeting, in which people from politics, academia, civil society and the media filled almost the entire hall at the "Amerikahaus" in Munich.

While today the head of the Albanian government is part of the EU enlargement panel, together with his Macedonian counterpart and Marta Kos. (A2 Televizion)
