The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated that for every citizen with disabilities who is the head of a family, the Democratic Party foresees that his family members will be treated with a minimum living wage.
Berisha made the comments during a meeting of the Democratic Party with people with disabilities, where he unveiled the program for a Great Albania, writes A2 CNN.
Berisha also said that the DP should aim first and foremost for this group of society, because according to him, there is proof of humanity, proof of humanism and proof of charity.
Excerpt from Berisha's speech:
First, I thank you for your presence here, representatives of tens of thousands of Albanian citizens with disabilities, and I assure you that this program that we have for you within the first 100 days will bring a radical change in society's attitude towards you.
Today, society's attitude towards you, in one way or another, is a kind of abandonment.
Because, abandonment is when you get paid a ridiculous amount for the problems you have.
If society does not make every effort to include you within the opportunities you have in normal life, at work.
If you look today, out of 17 thousand disabled people declared able to work, a total of 300-400 of them are employed.
In the state administration, which has an obligation, out of 220 thousand employees, there are a total of 212 disabled people.
This is a very serious indictment of this administration.
And I guarantee you, dear friends, that almost a third of the salaries paid in the state administration are in emigration and are not in Albania at all, but are registered names and the government officials, the officials share that money with each other.
And you were left with pensions as an absolute grave indictment of this theft that is being committed.
140 thousand lek pension, at a time when many of you are heads of families, have people to support, have obligations besides yourself, means condemning you to misery. And this is the punishment of misery.
Because if you give someone 150,000 old lek to get through the month with all the problems they have, medication, etc., they will never be able to cope with life.
We have announced that in Albania there will be no pension below 200 euros.
But I guarantee that your pensions, that is, this living minimum, will be exceeded according to your level of ability, without any hesitation.
I assure you that for every citizen with disabilities, who is the head of the household, who supports the family, his family members will be treated with the minimum living standard.
No one will be able to commit corruption against you.
Look at the evil they have done, which no one has asked for. The law that provides for the fulfillment of your needs, that law does not say about citizens with disabilities, but it also says about citizens with disabilities, meaning that the other kennel should be released as well.
But, our goal must be primarily for this group of society, because that is where the proof of humanity, the proof of humanism, the proof of charity lies.
