Former senior police chief Shemsi Prençi has stated that there cannot be free and fair elections if the ruling party (whichever it is) is not interested in making this happen.
Prençi made the comments on 'Ditari i Pasdites' with journalist Bruna Çifligu on A2 CNN, where he said that the commitment of SPAK or the Prosecutor's Office in this regard, that is, in protecting the elections, is insufficient.
Prençi also spoke about the 2021 elections, for which he said there was massive vote theft and buying by the majority, but according to him, the opposition did not finish the battle to fact-check and document them.
This is because, according to him, the opposition that emerged from the 2021 elections was divided into two parts, one supporting Basha and the other Berisha.
"Always on the eve of elections and after elections, parties make a cacophony of accusations against each other one after another. What is important is that the party in power must be in power to prevent electoral crimes. It is impossible, no matter how committed SPAK or the prosecution is, if the government in power is not committed to preventing electoral crimes with all the instruments of law enforcement, then nothing is in order."
In 2021, there was massive vote theft, massive vote buying, denounced during the electoral campaign, even on election day, but also during the counting. And the DP categorically did not commit to continuing the ordeal of denouncing election theft. This is because it entered into its own division. There was a division into two parts. One part was interested in attacking the former party chairman, the other part focused on attacking the non-wives of the historical leader," said Prençi. (A2 Televizion)
