President Bajram Begaj, today hosted a delegation of the European Parliament, headed by MEP Michael Gahler, who is in Albania to monitor the elections to be held on May 11. At this meeting, the electoral process and its importance in the context of fulfilling European standards on the country's path to integration into the European Union were discussed extensively.
During the conversation, European lawmakers showed particular interest in the novelty of these elections, which is the Diaspora vote.
Today was the President's final meeting with international observers before the start of the election silence period.
On this occasion, President Begaj shared a special message for Albanian citizens, inviting them to participate in the elections with calm, responsibility and dignity.
"May 11 is a special day for each of you. I invite you to exercise your right to vote with full awareness, because democracy is not just a voting day, but a daily commitment," the President said.
He also emphasized the obligation of institutions to guarantee a fair and transparent process, underlining that only through credible elections can citizens' trust in the state and democracy be built.
The President concluded his message by asking citizens to transform May 11 into a day of celebration and civic engagement.
"The vote is your voice. Use it with dignity, because through it you take control of your destiny and that of the generations to come," he said. (A2 Televizion)
