The Mayor of Himara, Vangjel Tavo, has stated that this year's tourist season is expected to last longer than usual. Invited to the show "Off the Record" with Andrea Dangli on A2 CNN, Tavo said that holidays on the Himara coast will continue at least until mid-November.

"We are at the peak of the tourist season. The season has started early this year in Himara. From all the contacts I have with tourist operators, tourism this year will be an extended season and will go until mid-November as hotels are booked until November 15-20 throughout the Himara municipality. There is an influx of tourists."

He said that the Municipality has taken additional measures to cope with the influx, especially for waste cleaning, which remains one of the main challenges: "The increased flow of tourists also brings problems. One of them is the increased amount of waste, garbage, which forces us to work extended hours and in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, we are cleaning the entire territory 3 times a day."

Regarding the supply of drinking water, Tavo said that the situation is better than a year ago, even though the water supply is no longer under the municipality's control: "The problem with drinking water is smaller than a year ago, even though the water supply is no longer under the municipality's control."
