What has happened in these 12 years has not happened even in the most brutal invasions in Albania. This is what Sali Berisha said from Gjirokastra on the 34th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Party in the stone city. While accusing Prime Minister Rama of depopulation, Berisha emphasized that the south of the country has been emptied more than any other territory in Albania.

"In 10 years, 2014-2024, 1 million and 99 thousand citizens have left Albania in the EU area alone. If we add here those who have left for the USA, Britain, Australia, Canada and the whole world, I guarantee you that they are over 45 percent of Albanians. And in these 45% of dear Albanian friends, 70% are young. Never before has a nation, even in the most savage wars, civil or invasion, abandoned the country, as the Albanians have abandoned during this narco-state invasion. In this catastrophic emptying, the south of the country has been emptied more than any other territory of Albania."

According to Berisha, Rama has taken traffickers from the entire region and rushed them to the South, from Vlora to Ksamil.

"The South concentrated on several cities on the coast, where half of them were occupied by the traffickers and mafia of Edi Rama, who initially said that a Gjon had come to us. The ignorant did not know that it was Gjon Boçari with his properties, one of the most prominent Albanians of Suli and Chameria and that they were his properties, and he said that a Gjon had come to us, he came to us from the mountains and had never seen the sea and occupied 50 thousand hectares of land. Those were the properties of Gjon Boçari. Now he has taken the traffickers of the entire region and rushed them to the South. Absolutely from Vlora to Ksamil."

He also accused the prime minister of what he said he was doing to the stone city and the university.

"But if we look at what he did to Gjirokastra. A center since it was founded, a beautiful city, a dignified city, a city with culture, which radiates throughout its being. He emptied it, took away the directorates and scattered it on all 4 sides so that instead of bringing it, instead of raising it from the valley down here in Qafë të Pazarit, repairing the buildings, he took it away from Gjirokastra altogether, he made it disappear. The university is almost being extinguished. The teachers who work in Ioannina or somewhere else, and receive their salary at the university and do not teach a single day. Others who are not visible at all. This is the real picture of Gjirokastra today. But like Gjirokastra as a whole, Albania is."

Under these conditions, Berisha called on Albanians to save the country from these government policies.

"I stopped at this moment to emphasize that this time, the truth is a call, a call of this land, nation, society for every Albanian to save this country. If these policies continue, after 4 years over 1 million more Albanians will go to those who are here today. Who will stay here? Therefore, it is vitally important to mobilize, to get involved."
