The Polyclinic of Specialities in Shkodër has opened its doors after the complete reconstruction of the building, an investment by the government and the Ministry of Health for the transformation of the health infrastructure in the country.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, have seen closely the new premises for receiving services in 22 different specialties as well as all laboratory examinations.
About 200,000 residents of the city of Shkodra, but also tourists who have turned the northern city into a favorite destination, benefit from this important investment in the city of Shkodra.
Minister Koçiu said that with a value of 120 million ALL from the state budget, the expansion of health services from 14 to 22 specialties and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment has been made possible.
According to her, this investment transforms the Shkodër Specialty Polyclinic into a regional (tertiary) referral center specializing in a wide range of quality health services.
"The cabinet of services is expanding from 14 services that were offered in this polyclinic, currently we have 22 services. The DEXA device is a device that evaluates bone density and for women it is very important. We continue with the graph, which is also a diagnostic device that the city of Shkodra lacked in the polyclinic, it was offered only in the hospital. We have the mammography cabinet", said Koçiu.
During the stop at the Imaging Cabinet where mammography is also located, the Minister of Health said that "we have decided to conduct free diagnostics with mammography devices without a reference system in every district of the country every month. In the month of January, it is in Shkodër that the diagnosis for mammography will be referred directly without a referral system where every girl and woman comes and performs the visit to the Polyclinic".
"Even the Shkodra Hospital with the 2025 budget will receive increased attention. We will have rehabilitation and reconstruction of some other services such as ophthalmology or pneumology, increasing and improving the working conditions, but also motivating the staff and offering better quality services to the citizens", declared Koçiu.
Minister Koçiu also emphasized that the innovation of this investment is the addition of 9 new specialties such as surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics and mental health, as well as modern cabinets for imaging, mammography, physiotherapy and ENT "There are services that are offered every time seen in this Polyclinic as a physiotherapy service, a mental health service as well as a toxicology service", added the minister, writes A2 CNN.
