Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting today with Albanians on the island of Crete in Greece.
During his speech to those present, Rama promised Albania's entry into the European Union if he wins a fourth term as head of government.
Rama also said that with the EU passport, many Albanians who are without documents in Greece and beyond will no longer need them, but will be free to live and work anywhere within the Union.
He also said that with the Albanian EU passport, Albanians in Greece and all European countries will automatically receive pensions for all years of work in these countries.
"Your neighbors no longer have any chance to despise you. Because you are no longer obliged to say good morning, even when they say you're a piece of shit. This of yours is precisely the history of restoring the name Albania and Albanian where it deserves, it is the history of establishing reciprocity of mutual respect and the obligation to respect us when we respect them in the relations between us, between every neighbor of every other state.
The second question that awaits an answer is a question that many of you often ask about documents, to finally be the same, equal, without any difference, not only in everyday working life, but also in the papers of this country. Well, today we have the golden opportunity that while we have built and are building day by day a positive relationship with our neighbors here in Greece, not to wait until when the documents will be made for all Albanians living here, nor to wait until when the entire negotiation for the pension agreement will be completed, but all together on May 11 to vote where the right strength is, at the right time and place, so that that passport that may take you another 10-15 years to get from the Greek state, can be received from the Albanian state as an EU passport.
"Keep in mind that the Albanian EU passport is absolutely the same as the Greek EU passport. With the Albanian EU passport, you can stay and work here, you can transfer any income from your pension here and in the meantime the state here must and will give you the pension for the work you have done here from the moment you receive the passport," Rama said, writes A2 CNN.
