Establishing the vital minimum of 200 euros will be a priority of the Democratic Party, if it wins the May 11 elections. The statement was made by the head of this political force, Sali Berisha, during the meeting with the heads of branches at the PD headquarters.
"We set the vital minimum. Setting the vital minimum of 200 euros means that at least 500 thousand Albanians, or more, if they do not receive anything, or receive 60 euros, or receive 120 euros, or receive 170 euros. That everyone, without exception, the first 3 months of our government will receive 200 euros. And that makes a difference. Do not forget that there are 244,000 pensioners who receive full pensions. Incomplete courses are received by 246,500 pensioners, who receive pensions from 140 to , then divide by the proportion. This ends. All of them will receive 200 euros. All the unemployed will receive 200 euros. All citizens with economic assistance will receive 200 euros. So with this new distribution, we answer the bite count."
Another promise of Berisha is also for the citizens with minimum salary, who according to him will be provided with the consumer card. While he emphasized that the minimum salary in Albania will be 500 euros.
"These citizens with a minimum salary and below will all be provided with a consumer card. The consumer card means the refund of the VAT of basic foods, and according to experts' calculations, this is equal to 3 pensions. So, a pensioner no longer receives, compared to what he receives today, he no longer receives 12, but will receive 15 pensions with the VAT refund for what he buys for basic food. The minimum wage cannot be below 500 euros in the territory of Albania. Every entrepreneur will be obliged to pay the minimum salary of 500 euros. Absolutely, we are ready to study all the consequences, the minimum wage is not without consequences for the employer. But we are ready to study all the consequences and help businesses to make it easier for them to apply this salary and not a penny lower. Is it possible? 100% I have said it, and I will repeat it again and again".
Likewise, Berisha also promises a reduction in the price of energy for consumers and businesses, which according to him is possible due to the diversification of this sector.
"We will overturn the current income distribution scheme. You had 77 electricity, it will go down to 70 for the first 300 kilowatts. You had 60 for business, it will go down to 60 again. During these years with private HPPs, the energy production is going to double what we were producing before our strategy of building HPPs. Plus there are other sources if problems arise, there is TAP and other possibilities". (A2 Televizion)
