The Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, held a meeting with the deputy of the Democratic Party, Albana Vokshi, a supporter of Sali Berisha, where he made it clear that the consultative role of the parliament is key to the negotiation process. In the announcement on platform X, Varhelyi writes that in this direction, the opposition has an important role in Albania's path towards the European Union.
"With MP Albana Vokshi, we discussed the OSCE/ODIHR 2023 report on local elections and the 2023 Enlargement Report. The consultative role of the Parliament in the process of membership negotiations is crucial and the constructive engagement of the opposition is key," the announcement states.
This reaction comes at a time when the opposition has blocked the normal development of parliamentary sessions with the argument that the Constitution is being violated, since the majority refuses to allow the establishment of 8 Investigative Commissions. (A2 Televizion)
