After 24 hours, the acting mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, withdraws from the order he signed himself, returning the powers of the municipality's management to Anuela Ristani.
A day earlier, Veliaj ordered from his cell that the other deputy mayor, Sara Goxhaj, take over, revoking the February 11 decision that entrusted the position to Ristan. These unexpected moves by Mayor Veliaj have met with resistance from the prime minister.
According to sources, on Wednesday evening, in the presence of 5 deputy mayors and municipal staff, Rama supported Anuela Ristani's position as a commanding leader.
In the afternoon, Erion Veliaj called the whole situation a misunderstanding due to the lack of information in the cell. He says that he made the decision after thinking that he had the agreement of the municipality team for the new delegation, but now everything is back to how it was before.
Veliaj denies having a conflict with Prime Minister Edi Rama, and even says that he only longs for her and that no amount of time can harm their relationship, no matter how cursed it is.
Erion Veliaj is under the security measure of prison arrest by decision of the Special Court of Appeal. The mayor of Tirana was arrested based on an investigation by SPAK on charges of passive corruption, abuse of office and money laundering. (A2 Televizion)
