Edi Rama described the establishment of a structure by SPAK to monitor political parties during the electoral campaign as a mistake. Although he refers to it in the same language as the prime minister, even Sali Berisha does not seem to trust this move by the Special Prosecution Office before the May 11 elections.
The Democratic Party leader said in the "Debat" studio by Alba Alishani, on A2 CNN, that he cannot believe that a prosecutor who has amnestied electoral crimes can investigate the electoral crimes of the 2025 Parliamentarians.
"I cannot trust those who have amnestied monstrous electoral crimes, because it is up to me to lie to myself. They lied to me once. They had the most secure, official documents, records with the prosecutor's signature. They were not accidental. No one could close these except the political prosecution. We are dealing with a political prosecution," Berisha declared in "Debat" by Alba Alishani, on A2 CNN.
According to Berisha, within the ranks of SPAK there are prosecutors who do politics, while prosecutors who investigated and stopped the most dangerous gangs in Albania have ended up on the streets.
"What do I mean by fusion? I'm talking about the model of the prosecutor who makes the law. But the prosecutor who makes politics, he is a major national danger to justice, to the system, to everything. There are prosecutors who have requested several life sentences, who have caught the most dangerous bandits and are today on the streets for the pretensions they have given.
