Albania ranked 89th in the Happiness Index for 2025, leaving behind only Turkey in Europe.

"It's good that we're in 89th place. Seeing how many problems are increasing and basic things are still not provided, I say it again, it's good," sociologist Marsi Simo tells A2 CNN.

But what are the factors that have dictated this ranking and what policies can be followed to improve it? "Health services, which are not at the expected level. The educational aspect, the part of modernity where people tend to think more about themselves, create more income and fewer family members. Another aspect has to do with freedom of choice. The more choices people have, the happier they are. Even if the children are happy, automatically the parents are happy too," says Simo.

In this report, Kosovo ranked first in the region, holding 29th place in the world, and the reason seems generally the same among citizens.

The World Happiness Report is a global study that measures the level of happiness in different countries around the world based on several factors such as: per capita income, social support, health, freedom, corruption, and for the third year in a row, Finland holds first place, followed by other Nordic countries such as Denmark, Iceland and Sweden.
