The Russian ship sinks in the Mediterranean after a powerful explosion

The Russian ship "Ursa Major" has sunk in the Mediterranean after an explosion on board. Fourteen crew members were rescued, while two others remain missing.

According to information from Ukrainian military intelligence and Spanish sources, the ship was heading to Syria to transport Russian military equipment that was being withdrawn from the country after the fall of dictator Bashar al-Assad. However, some Russian sources claim that the cargo included equipment for the construction of a nuclear ship in Vladivostok.

The ship "Ursa Major" sank in international waters between Spain and Algeria, after the engines exploded. The rescued crew members were sent to Spain.

This incident follows other losses of Russian ships in the Black Sea due to attacks by Ukrainian drones and missiles. Also, Russian forces are withdrawing from their strategic positions in Syria after a rapid rebel offensive that brought down the Assad regime. (A2 Televizion)
