A bipartisan resolution seeking to stop President Donald Trump from attacking Iran has been introduced in the US Congress.
According to foreign media, Republican House Representative Thomas Massie has joined forces with Democratic politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, creating an unexpected alliance.
"The Constitution does not allow the executive branch to unilaterally commit an act of war against a sovereign nation that has not attacked the United States," Massie said, according to A2 CNN.
Massie added: "Congress has the sole power to declare war on Iran."
"The war that is taking place between Israel and Iran is not our war," he added.
"Even if that were the case, Congress should decide such matters under our Constitution," he continued.
The resolution reflects a warning issued shortly before by top Democratic senator Bernie Sanders. (A2 Televizion)
