For the first time since the entry of North Korean soldiers into the war between Russia and Ukraine, Kiev announces the capture alive of two of them in the Kursk region.
In a post on the X social network, President Volodymyr Zelensky said the wounded soldiers had been sent to Kiev and were communicating with Ukraine's security services, the SBU, through a translator.
"Like all prisoners of war, North Korean soldiers are receiving all the necessary medical assistance," Zelenskiy said, announcing that journalists would be able to speak with them. "The world needs to know the truth about what is happening," he added.
Zelensky later said in a video message that the bodies had been captured by Ukrainian special forces along with paratroopers. Special forces posted a video showing North Korean soldiers in the hands of Ukrainian authorities.
Kiev claims that Pyongyang's troops are fighting in the Kursk region, where Ukraine continues an incursion that began in August. Ukraine says it still controls hundreds of square kilometers in the area.
Penian, which is thought to have sent around 10,000 troops to Russia, is also supplying Putin's army with a large amount of artillery shells, as Ukraine and its Western allies say. (A2 Televizion)
