Greenpeace activists removed a wax statue of French President Emmanuel Macron from the Grevin Museum in Paris on Monday and placed it in front of the Russian embassy in protest against French business ties with Russia and the lack of stronger climate action.

In its statement announcing the statue's removal, Greenpeace said Macron "does not deserve to be exhibited in this world-famous cultural institution until he has terminated French contracts with Russia and promoted an ambitious and sustainable ecological transition across Europe," writes A2 CNN.

According to French media, two women and a man entered the Grevin Museum posing as tourists and, once inside, changed clothes and dressed as workers.

The activists sneaked out through an emergency exit with the 40,000 euro statue, which they had covered with a blanket.

France has been one of Kiev's most vocal supporters since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Macron has taken the lead in trying to create a coordinated European response to defend Ukraine after US President Donald Trump shocked the world by negotiating directly with Russia. (A2 Televizion)
