The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has been postponed by two days. The news was announced by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Majed al Ansari.
The State of Qatar announces that, as part of ongoing negotiations, an agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian ceasefire for two additional days in the Gaza Strip.
The announcement comes after US President Joe Biden held a phone conversation with Qatar's prime minister on Monday, CNN reports citing sources.
Egypt has announced earlier that there were ongoing negotiations between the states involved, to secure an extension of the ceasefire.
Recall that the initial agreement of a four-day ceasefire to secure the release of 50 women and children was reached with the understanding that the cessation of hostilities could be extended by additional days if Hamas was able to release additional hostages.
Ten more hostages would give Hamas an extra day of reprieve.
Israeli and US officials believed there were more women and children being held captive than 50, but agreed to the terms of the deal after Hamas insisted it had to use the pause in fighting to prepare additional hostages. (A2 Televizion)
