He hurried up the stairs. The leader of the Vetëvendosje movement, Albin Kurti, met with the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, for a little over an hour. Despite being alone and face to face, the conversation did not cause “white smoke” to rise from the parliament building; on the contrary, it only deepened the political crisis.
The same thing happened in the meeting held between them in May last year. For the PDK leader, the burden of the blame lies with Vetëvendosje, which is not giving up on Albulena Haxhiu.
"We have no agreement. Albulena Haxhiu is not going to pass for us."
Krasniqi also explained the reason for Ms. Haxhiu's objection.
"If someone is elected speaker of the assembly, tomorrow it may be up to them to also assume the role of head of state."
He confirmed that he and Kurti also talked about extraordinary elections.
There has been no statement from the Vetëvendosje Movement or Mr. Kurti regarding the meeting. Meanwhile, the reaction of the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, was harsh, as he refused the invitation to participate in it.
"Do you understand now why you can't have a meeting or understanding with people like that? They meet you, they deceive you! While they invite you to a meeting, they insult you outside. In the end, they act in complete arbitrariness! Because they don't know humanity, neither words nor backs!"
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo also expressed opposition to the meeting with Kurti. (A2 Televizion)
