The meeting between the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, and the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, has begun at the Parliament.
Before the meeting, neither Kurti nor Krasniqi spoke to journalists.
Kurti, on Wednesday, sent invitations for a meeting to PDK leader Memli Krasniqi and LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, who refused to attend.
Krasniqi wrote on Facebook last night that he accepted the invitation "deeply believing that the Republic of Kosovo urgently needs institutional unblocking and the restoration of the regular functioning of the highest legislative institution, as well as to pave the way for the constitutional deadlines for the establishment of the Government."
He said he encourages Kurti to “responsibly reflect on the current situation and show sincere will to enable the formation of new institutions, so that Kosovo can have a legitimate and functional Assembly and Government as soon as possible.” In this context, Krasniqi said that “finding a suitable candidate, who enjoys the support of the majority of MPs, would be an important step forward.”
The LVV has proposed Albulena Haxhiu for Speaker of the Assembly several times in a row, but she has failed to obtain the necessary 61 votes just as many times, which has made it impossible to constitute the Assembly. (A2 Televizion)
