The Ministry of Defense reported that 24 fires have been reported in the last 24 hours, all of which have been extinguished, writes A2 CNN.
"These fires have been identified in the municipalities of Vlora, Vau i Dejës, Malesia e Madhe, Rrogozhina, Durrës, Fier, Kuçova, Lezha, Kurbin and Has. The fires have mainly affected vegetation, where around 9 hectares of bushes and grass have been burned as well as 200 olive trees in the fire identified in the village of Frakull, in the municipality of Fier," the ministry said.
"In two cases, fires were detected in two apartments, one in the village of Zagorë, Malësi e Madhe municipality and the other in an uninhabited house in the place called "Mali i Kolajt", Velipojë. As a result, only material damage was caused. 32 firefighting vehicles and 223 operational forces were engaged in all fire extinguishing operations."
For today, the Institute of Geosciences forecasts a "HIGH" risk level in the regions of Lezhë, Durrës, Tirana, Berat and Fier, while in the other regions a "MODERATE" risk level is expected.
"The entire civil protection system is monitoring the situation and is ready to provide immediate support if necessary. We invite citizens to show maximum caution and responsibility in these days of high temperatures and increased risk of fires. To avoid any action that could cause a fire, such as starting fires in open spaces, burning waste or throwing flammable objects in nature. Any case of fire must be immediately reported to local structures. Citizens' cooperation is crucial for the protection of life, property and nature," the ministry said. (A2 Televizion)
