April 11 marks the official opening of the 2025 cruise tourist season. "MS Hamburg", the first cruise for this year, which carries 250 tourists on board - mainly Germans and French - is the swallow that raises the flag of this season at the Port of Durres.
Cruise tourism has seen a progressive increase from year to year in the country's port capital, with an increasing number of cruise ships including Durrës in their itineraries in the Adriatic and Mediterranean. April is the month that welcomes the first cruise visitors, while a total of 13 cruise ships are scheduled to dock in Durrës this season, which will continue their visits throughout the autumn months.
With the increase in the number of tourists, there are also new ships visiting the port for the first time. One of them is the cruise ship "National Geographic Orion", which arrives for the first time in Durrës in June, to return for 5 more visits within the season.
Cruise tourism is a clear indicator that the Albanian tourism industry has entered a new stage of development, becoming a significant contributor to the country's economy. (A2 Televizion)
