The Institute of Public Health confirms that so far there have been no victims of seasonal influenza in our country. Regarding the loss of life in recent weeks in pediatric age groups, health authorities clarify that no laboratory diagnosis for influenza or other infections has been performed on them.

But Eugena Tomini, director of the IHP, says that clinicians, in this case pediatricians, must also perform laboratory verification to confirm whether the patient is affected by the flu or other infections.

A few days ago, a 6-year-old from Lushnja lost his life in hospital after a cardiac arrest that, according to doctors at the Lushnja hospital, was caused by complications from bilateral bronchopneumonia. The minor's family members have refused to conduct a forensic examination.

Meanwhile, the flu epidemic in Albania is reaching its peak. Over 20,000 cases per week are reported of respiratory infections, with influenza type A dominating the affected population.

Experts say that we are in a normal flu season, where we must also be careful of complications. The flu epidemic has also worsened the situation in hospitals. During this period, not only emergencies but also hospitalizations have increased, mainly in pediatric age groups and patients with chronic diseases.

Health experts call for the flu vaccine, which includes the variants that are currently in circulation. (A2 Televizion)
