The OSCE Presence in Albania donated 25 laptops, 25 printers/scanners and accessories to SPAK on Wednesday, writes A2 CNN. According to a publication on social networks by the OSCE itself, they will be used by 13 investigative groups in the field as well as by the central structure in Tirana. Technical assistance will be followed by training to increase capacities.
"In the meeting held today, Ambassador Michel Tarran and Director Altin Dumani emphasized the importance of strong institutional mechanisms for the protection of electoral processes. Tarran commended SPAK for its initiative and commitment to investigate and prosecute electoral crimes," the OSCE statement said.
"Director Dumani thanked the OSCE for its continued support and added that the equipment will help increase the capacities of special prosecutors and investigators in the timely detection and effective prosecution of electoral crimes."
The donation of equipment was made possible as part of the OSCE Presence's project "Support to Electoral Reform and Processes in Albania", which is funded by Sweden, Switzerland, the US Mission to the OSCE and Poland. (A2 Televizion)
