For the first time, on Independence Day, the Albanian Parade with over 5 thousand participants will be organized in Tirana. The mayor of the capital, Erion Veliaj, revealed in the A2 CNN Diary, what is expected to happen tomorrow on Dêshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, where 125 municipalities from the Albanian territories will participate, including Arbëresh in Italy.
"It is a transformation in the mentality of a parade that does not have a military step. Not only with the participation from the region, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Presheva and the municipalities and municipalities in Montenegro, but 43 ensembles from Arbëresh have joined and this year's chorus was the missing attention and returned to Arbëresh. Motorcyclists with Harley Davidson from the association "Illyria" Texas, association from New Jersey and New York".
The parade will start tomorrow at 11:00-13:30, but according to Veliaj, the weather remains a challenge.
"Costume design, music and dance from all over the world, we have a bit of a challenge with the weather for tomorrow, but when I remember that many good works were done under the barrage of bullets. Tomorrow the entire boulevard is dedicated to the parade. The organization starts at 11:00-13:30. We start at Mother Teresa, the parade to Martyrs of the Nation, distribution in Skënderbej Square and all the streets. Over 5,000 participants in the parade and many surprises at dinner, we will have a big stage in Skënderbej square, the Gjirokastra festival, then for White Night from pop music to rock".
Asked why this parade is being organized now in our capital, Veliaj replied that Tirana is already living the best times as the capital of Albanians and has the luxury of more activities
"We should have done it earlier and I always hesitated because it was raining. This is the first day. Now we have the luxury of doing more activities and Marko Kepi with "Albanian Roots" gave me an idea. This November of ours should be the year we live in the best times of Tirana. In 111 years of statehood, nations are not measured by how quickly they fall, but how strong they rise. It is not the ideal Albania that was torn apart in 111 years of statehood. Tirana will serve as the Balkan capital and arena and today it is the largest city of Albanians, it has become the center for art, culture, political decision-making, it makes me feel proud and we have arrived here. It is an honor that we are the capital of all Albanians".
