In Administrative Unit 14, one of the areas that is developing at a rapid pace, the foundations are being laid for the construction of a new school, which will function together with a new kindergarten and nursery. This investment by the Albanian government is a response to the needs of the Astir community.
The construction works for the school are being carried out at a construction site on “Muharrem Çaushi” street. The project was inspected today by Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, and the acting Mayor of Tirana, Anuela Ristani.
During the inspection, Rama emphasized the importance of drafting a new plan for the allocation of educational spaces in Tirana, which will be accompanied by expropriations and partnerships to secure land for schools.
"We must move forward with a new plan for the allocation of educational facilities for Tirana that is also accompanied by expropriations or partnerships when we receive the construction permit to release territory for the school. Meanwhile, for kindergartens, we must continue to obtain interior space in kindergarten buildings," said Rama.
The new school will be built according to European Union standards and will have a capacity for 900 students, with 30 classrooms, 8 laboratories, sports fields, a gym, a library and green spaces, adapting to the needs of students with special abilities.
Minister Manastirliu emphasized that this school is an important investment for the developing areas and new neighborhoods of Tirana. She underlined that it will provide opportunities for 900 students, including the 9-year education cycle, two preschool classes and a class for students with special abilities. This will allow young children to go to kindergarten and move directly to the preschool cycle. She also announced that due to the construction of new schools and the increase in capacities, many schools with two shifts will be eliminated, including those in areas near Astir.
The school's position between Kashari Boulevard and "Muharrem Çaushi" street was strategically chosen to serve as an educational and community space, meeting the needs of students and families in the area. (A2 Televizion)
