While he has been in prison in Fier since September last year, former Democratic MP Ervin Salianji has started another legal battle. Most recently, he asked the Special Court to force the Special Prosecution Office, SPAK, to investigate the head of the Supreme Court, Sokol Sadushi, for the criminal offense of "abuse of office", alleging violations of the law and fictitious actions in the selection of the rapporteur judges who reviewed two of his requests to the Supreme Court.

Together with Sadushi, for the same criminal offense, the former lawmaker also demands an investigation into the chancellor of this court, Anila Kulo, writes A2.

Former MP Salianji filed a complaint against the two Supreme Court officials in early April. Two days after the complaint was filed with SPAK, special prosecutor Bledar Maksuti decided to "not initiate criminal proceedings", reasoning that the facts alleged by the former MP did not constitute a criminal offense, a decision that has already been challenged by Salianji in the Special Court.

In the complaint, the former MP sentenced to 1 year in prison for "false reporting" in the "Babalja" file claimed that through their actions, Mayor Sadushi and Chancellor Kuli violated his right to a fair trial by an impartial and independent judge.

According to him, the Supreme Court had within 48 hours replaced judge Albana Boksi, chosen by lot to review his appeal against the guilty verdict, with judge Sokol Binaj. While in the case of reviewing his request to the Supreme Court for suspension of his confinement, judge Binaj was appointed without lot. In his appeal against the SPAK decision not to initiate an investigation, the former MP claimed that the SPAK prosecutor had not correctly understood the criminal fact reported by him.

The prison sentence against former MP Salianji became final on September 26 of last year, while on March 11, 2025, the Supreme Court rejected his appeal, leaving the sentence unchanged.  (A2 Televizion)
