A 50-year-old Albanian citizen, Zamir Halili, has been arrested by the Police in Elbasan, after being previously sentenced in Italy to 7 years in prison.
Through a statement, the Police announced that the operation to capture him was carried out thanks to the cooperation with Italian partners, writes A2 CNN.
The Police announcement also states that he is accused of crimes against the person and sexual crimes, writes A2 CNN.
Meanwhile, Interpol Tirana is cooperating with Interpol Rome to finalize the extradition procedure of the 50-year-old to Italy.

The police operation codenamed "Operation 47" is being finalized by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force.

As a result of well-organized police actions and the rapid exchange of information with Italian partners, through the services of Interpol Tirana, the services of the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, within the framework of the operation "Operationalja 47", arrested in Elbasan, the Albanian citizen, declared internationally wanted, on behalf of Italy, Zamir Halili, 50 years old.
The Court of Siena, Italy, sentenced him to 7 years in prison in 2014 for assault, domestic violence, and sexual assault. He has about 6 years and 9 months left to serve from this sentence.
