Stranded at sea near Sazan Island, police rescue foreign tourists

The Vlora Border Police, in cooperation with the Coast Guard, rescued several foreign citizens whose lives were in danger after their sailboat suffered a defect while sailing near the island of Sazan.

The sailboat had suffered an engine failure and, due to its proximity to the rocks, was at risk of flooding and crashing into the shore, writes A2.

Police announcement:

The Vlora Border Police, in cooperation with the Coast Guard, are coming to the aid of several foreign citizens whose lives were in danger after their sailboat suffered a defect while sailing near the island of Sazan.

During this evening, the Vlora Border Police was notified by the Liaison Center for Maritime Operations that a foreign-flagged sailing vessel, sailing from Italy to Croatia, was in danger near the island of Sazan. The sailing vessel had suffered an engine failure and, due to the waves and proximity to the rocks, was at risk of flooding and crashing into the shore.

Immediately, the Vlora Border Police services, in cooperation with the Coast Guard, intervened quickly to help the foreign citizens on board. Thanks to the coordinated and immediate response, it was possible to rescue these citizens without any consequences for their lives and transport them safely to the shore.

All persons on board were found to be in good health, and it was possible to tow the sailboat to SPK Triport, Vlora.

The Border Police continues to be at the service of citizens and tourists, ensuring security in maritime areas and immediate assistance in any emergency situation. (A2 Televizion)
