The motives for the murder of the 24-year-old Palestinian woman by her 49-year-old husband of the same nationality remain a mystery to the investigative team.
The couple Rayyan and Fadi Alwan lived in Germany and on February 19 arrived in Albania for the first time through Rinas airport. They took a taxi and went to "Gjon Muzaka" street, where they had also booked a rented apartment, the environment where the macabre crime was committed. But three days later, on February 22, the 49-year-old leaves Rinas airport alone, with Greek documents, the same ones with which he had entered on the 19th.
His destination was not Germany, but Athens. From there he traveled to the Netherlands and then by public transport to Germany.
Police suspect that the young woman's murder occurred between February 19 and 22, a time that will be clearly determined by forensic medicine. The police were informed about the crime by the owner of the apartment. She told police that she had not seen the couple move in the past few days and that is why she entered the apartment and discovered the girl's lifeless body.
Investigators had a hard time learning their identities and origins, as the owner of the house had not left any means of identification. But a phone call made by the 49-year-old man who had booked the apartment for rent revealed everything. Through the contact officer that the Albanian authorities have in Germany, they found out who the mobile phone number belonged to, and he then told the investigative group that the call from Germany to Albania had been made by 49-year-old Fadi Alwan.
After the crime, the police did not find any means of identification of the girl, money or the knife used in the murder in the apartment, which are thought to have been taken by her husband. The latter has already been declared an international wanted man and is expected to be located and brought before Albanian justice on charges of murder. (A2 Televizion)
