A police officer has been arrested in Durrës after he allowed a quantity of oil to be released from a ship that had been seized by a prosecutor's order and was in the port in exchange for 10 thousand euros. The Police Supervision Agency arrested 21-year-old police officer Armand Marvataj, an officer of the General Patrol. He is accused of corruption and abuse of office. According to AMP, in cooperation with each other, the police officer and the two wanted persons, on January 27 of this year, extracted a significant amount of oil from a Tanzanian-flagged ship, which was anchored and seized in Porto Romano.
Also, an examination of security cameras in Porto Romano revealed that the amount of oil had been replaced with water.
As part of this investigation, 7 other people, Syrian and Egyptian citizens, suspected of smuggling goods and theft committed in collaboration, were also prosecuted at large.
