Socialist MP Damian Gjiknuri commented on the "Çdo kënt" show with Merita Haklaj, on A2 CNN, the cyberattack that led to the theft of the emails of three SPAK prosecutors and has shaken the justice system in the country.
The IT system at the Special Prosecution Office was hacked a few weeks ago, and several investigative files are suspected to have been taken from the computers of three SPAK prosecutors.
For this incident, SPAK has arrested as suspects Zambak Gjoni, who previously held the position of director of pre-trial detention in Vlora, and Arnold Rrokajn, a former IMT employee.
Meanwhile, Gjiknuri assesses the hacking of SPAK as a very worrying event, as according to him, Albanians support independent justice and the theft of sensitive data could compromise the work of special prosecutors.
"For me, it is concerning that there are certain groups and individuals who want to benefit from sensitive data administered by SPAK. This should be the concern of Albanian society, where I also, as a deputy and citizen, feel concerned because I demand that the justice bodies be independent, but also secure, in order not to be influenced by their independent investigations. So this is a general concern as a citizen, but also as a politician, and I hope that the Prosecution will go to the end and find and punish these perpetrators, who above all aim to discredit the new justice bodies," declared Gjiknuri on "Çdo kënt" with Merita Haklaj, on A2 CNN.
Asked about his past and possible investigations against him by the Special Prosecution Office, Gjiknuri said: " I don't have any problems with justice, because if I did, I would say so ."
" Naturally, I, like many others, have been called to give testimony as a witness, but even if I have been investigated, let's say investigated for preliminary investigations, for my role as a witness to events, which I learned about due to my duty. I have been to the Prosecutor's Office, I have given explanations about them and I have said that going to the Prosecutor's Office is not blasphemy, it is a normal thing that every public official, whenever called, must go and give explanations about the work they have done and the issues that interest the investigation, within legal standards. Personally, I am not aware of being under investigation. A preliminary investigation does not mean that you are a person under investigation ," the former Minister of Infrastructure and Energy further explained on "Çdo kënt" with Merita Haklaj, on A2 CNN.
