It took 9 days for the last diaspora vote to be counted. Elbasan was the region that requested noon on the second Tuesday after the elections to count the last ballot box, marking the conclusion of a process implemented for the first time.
The end of the process also highlights the distribution of the diaspora vote, where between the Socialists and the Democrats, the difference is obvious: out of every three votes, two are for the SP and one for the DP.
This lead deepened the advantage created by the majority within the country, while the diaspora added only one more MP for the Socialists in the Vlora district, finalizing the result at 83 parliamentary mandates.
But if the impact of the competition between parties was minimal, the diaspora vote proved decisive among the candidates. The first was Isuf Çela from the Democrats in Kukës, who, thanks to preferences from abroad, displaced Shkelqim Shehu, obtaining a second mandate in this district for the opposition.
In Lezha, Admir Kadeli of the Socialist Party reversed the results of Marjeta Neli, who until Monday evening considered herself a member of Parliament.
History was repeated in Tirana between Olta Xhaçka and Blerina Gjylameti, where the former Foreign Minister overturned the votes within the country and created an advantage of 140 votes, usurping her colleague's mandate.
These celebrations also brought chaos where five socialists approached the CEC for footage, an action that the SP delegate for the diaspora, Taulant Balla, considered unnecessary. After a similar message from Edi Rama, the message seems to be being heard and the requests for footage are not being implemented.
Meanwhile, the Socialist Party leaves the door open for new opposition forces to address their concerns about the Electoral Code in the next Parliament.
The CEC is expected to proceed with the approval of the preliminary results, an act that paves the way for institutional complaints, with the Democratic Party stating that it does not recognize the electoral process, considering it a farce. (A2 Televizion)
