The OSCE ambassador in Tirana, Mishel Tarran, stated that the problem in Albania remains the buying and selling of votes, group voting. According to him, the role of the State Police remains essential in maintaining order, preventing pressure and timely dealing with any possible violations during the election process.
"Secrecy must apply to the entire procedure - and especially to the casting and counting of votes. The pressure discourages voters from exercising their right to vote freely and without fear. As a result, the democratic process is undermined due to the creation of an unfriendly environment for voters.
These reports point out that the processes are negatively affected by technical and procedural problems, widespread cases of group voting and proxy voting, tensions, pressures on voters inside and outside the polling stations, attempts to influence them, as well as other problems with the secrecy of the vote", said Tarran, A2 CNN reports.
"The role of the State Police remains essential in maintaining order, preventing pressure and dealing in time with any possible violation during the election process. In the meantime, political parties must act responsibly in their interactions with voters and train commissioners and party officials to discourage actions that could compromise the integrity of the vote."
