Gjici asks for relaxation of security measures: I have no possibility to damage the evidence, nor am I dangerous to society

The Special Court rejects the request of Safet Gjic for replacement of the security measure "arrest in prison".

Gjici asked for mitigation of the measure with the claim that the investigation has been completed, and therefore it is stated that there is no opportunity to tamper with and damage the evidence and that there is no social danger.

Safet Gjici remains in prison on the charge of passive corruption. This is because on June 16, Gjici appeared in a video published online having sex with a woman in his office in the Municipality of Kukes. Later, another fragment of that video was published where Gjici discussed with the girl in question about the possibility of awarding her a tender for the management of stray dogs in the city of Kukës.

Although he resigned, the government decided to dismiss the socialist mayor in a meeting that was held the same day.

Gjici led the Municipality of Kukës from 2019 and won the second mandate in the elections of May 14, a mandate that he interrupted without starting well. (A2 Televizion)
