Amendments to several draft laws in the Electoral Code that further facilitate the Diaspora's voting process in the May 11 elections will have to wait another 4 days to be approved. This is because today's plenary session has been postponed and will take place on Monday at 10:00.
A2 CNN journalist Ervin Koçi reports that after the session was interrupted due to tensions between the parties, negotiations were held between the parliamentary groups on how to proceed with today's session and the decision was made to postpone it.
"Since the Speaker of the Assembly had announced the immediate transition to voting, the DP Group requested that a debate be held on the Electoral Code before the voting process was carried out. Having no agreement on this point, the parties have agreed to postpone the session to Monday at 10:00, although the Speaker of the Assembly justified this decision with the violence and clashes that accompanied the proceedings of today's session," Koçi reported.
Thus, on Monday of next week, the Albanian Parliament will review draft laws for several changes to the Electoral Code, as well as the rest of the agenda that is automatically transferred for discussion and voting.
Regarding the number of votes or reaching the quorum, during the interruption, all SP deputies were called to be present and although the proceedings were interrupted, they appeared in the plenary session hall, thus completing the sufficient number for the vote on the Electoral Code if consensus were reached.
