“A step closer to Europe.” With these words, Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, congratulated Albania on the opening of the third group of negotiating chapters.

Kos' reaction comes after the fifth Albania-European Union intergovernmental conference, where our country also opened Group Chapter 3, where it will now also negotiate on digital transformation and media, taxes, economic and monetary policies, and even science and customs union, writes A2.

The Commissioner for Enlargement considers this group chapter important, writing that Albania will now have a stronger economy for the benefit of Albanians: "Congratulations to Albania on opening Group 3 on competitiveness and inclusive growth! This means a stronger Albanian economy for the benefit of your citizens and another step closer to the EU. EU enlargement is about progress day by day."

The decision taken in Brussels was also welcomed by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who wrote on social media that Albania's path towards the EU will continue unabated: "The EU Council approved the opening of negotiations for 8 new chapters from Group 3: Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth, which includes education, digitalization, employment, economic policy, taxation and innovation. So far, negotiations have been opened for 24 chapters in just 8 months and only 11 more remain to be opened - an extremely high pace that shows Albania's progress and the EU's support to achieve the common objective of closing the negotiations in 2027."

Meanwhile, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, calls it a new cornerstone and adds that the opening of 8 chapters reflects the progress that Albania has made.  (A2 Televizion)
