In my political career, this institution is the first institution that I have visited as President of the Republic. The Council of Europe is the oldest European institution after World War II, which has free elections, freedoms and rights of European citizens at its core. I have had intense relations with this institution, whether as president or prime minister, or as chairman of the largest opposition party.
