Edi Rama seems aware that for a fourth mandate he needs a radical change in the socialist parliamentary group, which is why he warned all his MPs to get ready to challenge each other on open lists.
"Those who are with a mandate as an MP on open lists. We must give Albanians an old experience with new energy. Blood transfusion! Whoever does not accept the challenge is free to leave", he said at the meeting of the SP parliamentary group, reports A2 CNN. "If you do not agree, communicate with the political leader".
The only exceptions will be the political leaders of the regions, who, according to Rama, would unbalance the race if they thought about themselves and not about the team. "No leader wants to compete for a specific candidate," he said.
But where will the Socialist Party's number 1 candidate run? Edi Rama surprised some of the MPs, leaving open the possibility that he will no longer be an MP on May 11. "I have not yet made the decision whether I will be an MP."
Even though he no longer wants them in the parliamentary group, the majority leader instructed the deputies to work together for his fourth mandate, luring them with the government "carrot" of a ministerial position. "By having a new group, we will have a government with experience. We will talk about the formation of the government another time," Rama added.
While the Socialist MPs stood in silence, digesting their boss's decision, Rama took Taulant Balla and left on foot towards his office in the Prime Minister's Office. (A2 Televizion)
