The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted to the reduction in the price of electricity in the country. According to him this is an extreme inequality and this move by Rama means that the rich get richer and the poor stay almost where they are.
"Edi Rama's memory is a fraud, it is a complete fraud. This movement means the rich get richer, the poor stay almost where they are. Because lowering the price of energy for those who consume 700 megawatts, as he consumes in the Surreli factories, perhaps, or anyone else, means lowering it for yourself. Lowering it to 85 allek from 95 allek, the same as for someone who receives 100 million allek a year, with him who receives 3-4 million a year, is extreme inequality and extreme hypocrisy".
Berisha emphasizes that the Democratic Party remains steadfast and will lower the current energy prices. He says that in 2013, the price for Albanians who consumed up to 250 kilowatts per month was 70 Lek.
"The Democratic Party remains steadfast. One, in the reduction in full proportion, in full proportion to salaries and pensions for all citizens who receive an average salary and below. Salaries are not my preoccupation, no. Second, the indisputable reduction in the price of energy for businesses as a whole, small businesses in particular. So we will not accept these current prices, but we will lower the prices. We have had, because he has a short memory, the price for Albanians in 2013 who consumed up to 250 kilowatts per month was 70 Lek, 0.7 Lek/h. The price for those who consumed above this quota was 115 ALL. This one now, he increased it as much as he increased it, he increased it by 40 lek and destroyed people with prices, and he says, he is lowering it, he says. I am putting it down in the first place, because the person who consumes 700 kU/h, do the math yourself, earns in a word per month what 3 other families consume. This will not happen to us. This is, I said once again: to take the energy, the commodity that belongs to the citizens and distribute it equally, both to the poor and to the rich, but no. We will overturn the distribution of national income in the Republic of Albania, until people are freed from this poverty, from these pains of not having", says the democratic leader. (A2 Televizion)
