Former Democratic Party MP, Ervin Salianji, reacted immediately after his release from Fier prison, where he was serving a 1-year prison sentence for false reporting in the "Babale" case.
Salianji, who has been behind bars since October 2024, told the media that his imprisonment was a political revenge to prevent him from running for office, writes A2 CNN.
"More than 9 months in prison here in Fier for political reasons, convicted because I denounced and brought to justice an international drug trafficker. As you can see, it is both a self-exposing and a release in this period. It is a punishment to avoid me from the electoral battle, it is a punishment because of the victory I had in relation to the SP," said Salianji.
He added that upon arrival at the Democratic Party headquarters in Tirana, there will be a longer communication with the public and supporters.
According to him, the time spent in prison is a message to all democrats who, as he expressed, must be inspired to continue the battle against the regime installed in the country.
"Every day I spend in prison is a denunciation of the regime that has been installed in Albania. I believe it is a source of inspiration for thousands of democrats," the former MP concluded.
Salianji was received by MP Luan Baçi and numerous exponents of the Democratic Party. (A2 Televizion)
