While there have been rumors for 48 hours that he could run on the Socialist Party's open list for the Tirana district, Prime Minister Edi Rama surprised quite a bit when he declared during the group's meeting that he may not be a seed on the list of candidates for MPs.
The head of government categorically ruled out the possibility of him being on the open list as this would mislead voters, but left open the possibility of not becoming part of the race.
"The same applies in my case. To be honest, I have neither had nor have any idea why I should be there in that Parliament as long as I have this duty, and on the other hand, it would be an act of revenge against others to put my name forward and then have the votes come in and people be misled. So whoever is on the open list should be in a very equal race. Meanwhile, I have not yet fully made the decision for myself, because I may not be on the list at all, being a deputy for everyone for the duty I have and not taking anyone's place. This is more or less the picture today," said Rama. (A2 Televizion)
