The palaces of the city of Memaliaj, built at the time when the city lived from the coal mine, are almost totally depreciated and drip every rainy day.
Although the city municipality, through a private firm, recently carried out an intervention for the waterproofing of the terraces with a fund of 2.9 million lek, the situation has not only not improved but has worsened.
Residents complain about poor quality works. The situation is known and accepted by the municipality of Memaliajt, which, although it has not fully paid the amount of 2.9 million lek, has given the company 75 percent of the fund and currently has no power to force it to repair the damages.
Now the hope remains the project for the repair of the facades and the waterproofing of all the buildings of the municipality, a project that in other cities has been baptized as urban renaissance. (A2 Televizion)
