It's an all-out war between Kylian Mbappe and PSG. The French striker's lawyers went on the offensive before the civil court in Paris and seized the amount the club owed him from PSG's accounts.
A huge sum of 55 million euros, including salaries and bonuses that the Parisian club did not pay following the player's decision not to renew his contract which expired on June 30, 2024.
The decision was made by the sports justice system, but was blocked by PSG's systematic complaints.
In parallel, Mbappe's lawyers are continuing the proceedings before the French sports justice and UEFA, to which three more criminal charges have been added against unknown persons to protect their client's reputation and image.
"The sports courts have ruled in Kylian's favor. Only the club is not implementing the LFP's decisions," explained Thomas Clay, one of the lawyers. "The club is a member of the LFP, whose president is an influential member of that body's board of directors. The club is not respecting anything: neither the employment contract, nor the law, nor the LFP's decision, nor French justice," he added.
The court has scheduled a preliminary hearing, an initial examination of the case, for May 26 before holding the initial hearing on the merits of the case, which will be held in a few months. For the time being, the possibility of an amicable settlement is ruled out. The only competent court, PSG wrote in a statement, “is the labor court (...), but it is essentially a question of good faith, honesty and loyalty, as well as respect for the values and institution of PSG and its fans.” (A2 Televizion)
